I am running Vista Home Premium and I want to dual boot with Ubuntu 8.10. I get through the install process and try to let Ubuntu's partitioner partition the hardrive, and I get an error message and the operation aborts. What am I doing wrong?
Ubuntu has trouble with partitioning

Did you try using GParted to partition the hard disk? Did you try a custom layout? Dedoimedo

You are not doing anything wrong. What is the error message ?
I advise you resize your Vista partition before running the installer.
Before you resize, back up your data and defragment (from Vista). Although rare, you need a back up in case there is a problem with resizing.
