Hi everyone, great site, and fantastic support.

Just a quickie, has anyone successfully installed the restricted drivers for the mobility radeon 9700 on Ubuntu 8.10, if they have, any chance of some instructions?

Apologies in advance if this topic has been covered, i looked but couldnt find anything.

Thanks in Advance

I am in the same boat. I am curious if anyone has had success with this. I have tried to install other drivers in hopes to get Texture compression. I am not a gamer but I know this card is capable to play Quake for Linux. So I downloaded the Linux demo and get the error:

X..GL_ARB_texture_non_power_of_two not found X..GL_EXT_texture_compression_s3tc not found Fatal Error: Texture compression unavailable

My hope are using the restricted drivers would resolve this.

Also curious about this. I actually have the 9600 but I think they are similar. I just installed 8.10 but can't find any success stories about proprietary drivers working.
