I have a 2 year old Toshiba satellite laptop with Hardy Heron installed. I have not been able to install Windows XP as a guest in VirtualBox. I copied a legal install disc and tried it. It gave me a message that it may corrupt the system and was shutting down. I was, though, able to boot to it from the BIOS start up.

I downloaded a WinXP form Pirate Bay and it failed to install in Virtual box, but it booted up just like the other one.

My Toshiba recovery disc would not work either, it said it was the wrong machine.

Anyone have any suggestions to other sources I may try. I did run across a couple others but I didn't write them down. I need to improve my note taking.

Jim,

From my experience with Virtual Box, you need to add yourself to the VirtualBox group and then log out and back in with that user.

Let me know if this helps.
