Songbird Questions

I just started using Songbird and I am pretty happy with the overall layout of it. However I have a few problem...

1. Very, very slow. The browser speed and also the download speed of add-ons.

1. Can't drag and drop audio files from folder to Songbird (playlists)

1. Can't drag Songbird application onto other workspaces. It is locked into the default workspace.

Anyone else experiencing? Know of any possible fixes?

I'm not sure how to fix the first two, but there's a songbird add on called "nativebird" which makes the program assume your native window borders and gtk theme. It also allows dragging to other workspaces.

Too many problems with Gonzo. I'm sticking with the old layout.

Weird release notes, but true. I tried it out and it is pretty buggy.

Bump for any more help trying to get Songbird to run smoother.

The only other media player I am using is Rhythmbox and that is giving me a tag writing problem. This problem doesn't exist in Songbird. I'd like to try and get Songbird running a little bit faster.

Fairly useless info -

I have the desktop cube, songbird can be dragged from right to left till you reach 'desktop 1' (far left in panel applet), then it gets locked.

Huh weird. I was just playing around with it a little bit and I got it to add a few songs. It like randomly allows me to add songs. I'll keep messing with it for a bit.

Is there an installer out there for v1.0 yet so it installs correctly in my menus etc, instead of just runnning it from an extracted folder? Ive downloaded whats on the front page of the site and it just seems to run from the folder.

You can grab a .deb installer, which will put Songbird under "Sound & Video" on your Applications menu, from getdeb.net. It's a contributed build, but they do have 1.0 there.

I actually installed Songbird earlier today, and agree that it is a bit slow in places (particularly with the coverflow clone add-on, despite the fairly hefty spec PC I'm using that runs Crysis reasonably well). Would love to see integration with the Amazon MP3 store, particularly now it has launched here in the UK.
