desktop for Xubuntu in Ubun tu

I downloaded the XU desktop to see what its like in Ubuntu. Other than the different color sign in screen, I dont see any difference..?? Whats up..??

Did you make sure that after when you logged out and before you logged back in that you changed your session to xfce instead of gnome?

Did you choose the xfce session at login? (Look among the options.)

So I changed it to xfce ... so what..??? am I supposed to see a different layout and graphics?? I dont... is it just a little faster without any other differences?? My desktop looks the same . menus are the same....

I haven't used Ubuntu since I tried Xubuntu, a while ago. Things should be different: menu, file manager, etc...

Your desktop should be the same and your menu should of course have the same applications in it except with a different set up on how to handle settings and configuration (ei different programs etc for changing wall paper themes). What you should notice however is mostly the difference in the panels (and icons and themes if they got changed to the default rodent ones and Xubuntu theme).

I think I notice it a liitle faster. Isnt it weird that concerning OS stuff, you cant even trust your senses.. your expecting to much.. Anyway Xu doesnt harm anything, but I dont see any difference exept the mouse at sign in...

Xubuntu uses a lot of Gnome stuff when it comes to Xubuntu. If you want to see a real difference, you need to remove all the Gnome stuff and have a pure XFCE desktop
