When I first launch Firefox it starts maximized on the Ubuntu start page. If I unmaximize it, the window shrinks down but as soon as I move my mouse over it the window goes to maximized again. Select unmaximize a second time doesn't change the size and I have to resize it by trying to grab the corners.

Even when I have the window unmaximized and close it firefox opens back up maximized. I'm trying to capture a video of this but so far I'm not having any luck with istanbul or gtk-recordmydesktop.

I have turned off Visual Effects but that hasn't seemed to make any difference.

I just had a similar problem and was able to fix it with this: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+window+is+too+large+or+opens+off+screen

Okay it's returned again and it now also happens in Thunderbird sometimes. I can restart in safe mode and fix it temporarily but it still comes back.

Any idea what could be causing this?

I might have this too, ff just jumps to small while I am reading the page.

Its not that annoying, just a bit trippy. But it hasn't happened too many times. Yet.
