So I have successfully installed Kubuntu 8.10 on my Asus F3k Series laptop but for some reason most of the images in the lower right hand corner of the screen (battery, sound, ect.) are distorted. Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?...

It could be a graphics card issue.

First, disable any effects that are on.

I forgot how to do this since I avoid KDE like the plague.

Then make sure your graphics card is installed.

I suggest you use a program called Envy NG,http://www.albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html. Note that this will only work for ATI and Nvidia graphics cards (that's most of them).

Restart the pc and see if the problem is fixed.

Hey,

I installed envy and my GFX drivers with it (had been meaning to do that anyways) and the icons are still distorted. I don't anything other than the default KDE4 stuff enabled, anyone have any ideas/advice on what might be wrong?
