What do you guys recomend for a old labtop with only 32mb of ram

Personally I would try a debian install with something like fluxbox as a desktop enviorment. I'm actually looking for an old machine to experiment with. Damn Small Linux might also be an option for you.

Or... I don't know if you have quite enough ram for this.. but you could try Xubuntu... Just do a server install of ubuntu, login, and do ``` sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
these fourms always have the best help for noobs.

I highly recomend one of these.
I have 64Mb and server install 333MHz then fvwm installation ... results: tooo slow to do anythg !
I tried corellinux, debian base, kde 1.1.2 and older kernel the results were amazing !! very fast and furious, and also very nice (netscape) but but ;... no USB ; how to fix it ??

My experience is that even : from server install
sudo apt-get install gdm x-window-system-core xterm icewm menu mozilla-firefox abiword synaptic
is rather slow for a <=64MB ram old pc
The reason could be maybe too heavy kernel and for sure mozilla-firefox or opera even. I still cannot stomac the dillo ... Best would be netscape but still not much time to make it installed yet from server installation
I still wish to have time to make it, netscape & kde 1.1.2 to make my trial
