KDE version check?

How do check which version of KDE is installed on my system?

I know its the 4 series. If I don't have the latest stable version, how do I upgrade to it?

PS: I'm mainly interested in having the quick launch bar. I'm told 4.0 doesn't have it and 4.1 does. thanks

In any KDE application (konqueror, kate, dolphin , etc) click help and about kde. It will tell you.
