- System Specifications - _Primary OS:_ Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition _Secondary OS:_ Ubuntu 8.10 "Intrepid Ibex" _Ram:_ 2 GB _Graphic Card:_ nVidia GeForce 6200 Chipset _Graphic Card Ram:_ 126 MB (It's an old card my dad found in the basement) _Network Connection:_ No

The above specifications are for the computer I have received from my dad after he bought a new one. I have just installed Ubuntu 8.10 through Wubi, (was having issues partitioning; got scared after almost creating a new partition of the 320 main one) and I want to install the nVidia drivers for my card so I can get my desktop effects. I already know about AptOnCd, but I do not Ubuntu on this current computer. (My dad's) Could someone create a step-by-step or refer me to a tutorial on installing the nVidia drivers without an Internet connection? I do have access to several different means of transporting files from one computer to another. (PSP Memory Stick Pro Duo, 2 GB Flash Drive, 1 GB SD Card + Card Reader)

Thanks in advance, Jared/Virtua-Touch

I'm not sure this applies to you, but this link was the closest thing to a solution that I could find. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=973038&highlight=nvidia

Thanks, I will definitely try this.

Thanks for your help. All went well. Installation was very smooth, and I now have my effects. I encountered only one problem. Compiz-settings installed, but it wouldn't run. It said that the program crashed when started. Any suggestions?

Follow the HowTo in my sig. Should work then.
