Every time I get a notification about and begin updating when they become available, the process is interrupted by an error message: error in foomatic-filters. Then I get "error in linux generic package" and a bunch of numbers. This is replaced before I can write it all down with "error in Linux package"
Everything seems to go OK except I don't know if the updates are really being installed. I tried un-installing and re-installing foomatic-filters, but I still get the message. Also, when I started Synaptic, I got the message: must run dpkg --configure -a. This I did as SUDO, and then synaptic ran. But if I go to synaptic again, I get the same error.
At least, I am still able to use Ubuntu to get on the net and the printer works. Should I just live with the problem?
