Hi, I'm sorry, but I'm new to Ubuntu/Linux (I just installed it last week) and I was wondering if I did something wrong.

So my question is: after the loader, the orange bar shows the loading and finishes, my screen turns black and then there's a series of white text of the booting and stuff. Is this supposed to be there? I don't always remember it being there. If so, is there a way to get rid of it? I'm wondering if I did something wrong and caused it to get rid of something that used to be there instead.

Thanks for your help.

Alright matey. Usually - not always - having no splash is down to two things. First we'll deal with the most probable. This happens when your swap partition's ID (called UUID) has changed. Follow this link for step-by-step instructions on how to check and change the relevant entries. It's pretty straightforward really. Let me know how you get on
