Dell Mini 9 8.10 trouble

I have a Dell Mini 9 with a 16GB SSD and 1GB of RAM running the recently installed 8.10. I have a few problems:

• Resume does not work 100% of the time
• On start up, sometimes it can't boot up because of some grub error
• I noticed it is alot slower on start up than Dell's 8.04.1 Release

Anyone else have these issues? Anyone else have solutions?

P.S. Is it possible to install XP Home ontop of Ubuntu for dual-boot with a 16GB SSD and a fresh installtion of Ubuntu?

can't really help with the first couple questions as I don't have my mini yet.In general though there are some good guides on the forums for improving bootup times, mostly disabling unneeded services. Also the dell version is running a different kernel, that may have a little to do with it. But for the last one it's usually easier to install windows first then ubuntu, if you install ubuntu after you will have to reinstall grub.

yes a slightky longer boot with all the wistles and bells of 8.10 I have the no sound on wakeup from suspend problem otherwise 8.10 seems to run just fine including compiz and all the medibuntu needed for dvd

I found the upgrade to 8.10 worth the effort, as I wanted to install 2GB of RAM and the Dell kernel will only see 1GB. I haven't used suspend yet, but otherwise, everything seems to work fine.

Are you guys installing the full 8.10 system or the Cannonical remix of 8.10?

How is everyone installing 8.10? I downloaded it but I don't know how to install it. It wants to make a cd and there is no cd drive.

I use an external CD drive and set the bios to boot from usb device. I am using the full 8.10

Likewise, I'm using the full 8.10 version. I used the "Create a USB startup disk" utility and installed using a USB jump drive.
