Disable Compiz on Live CD boot

Hello,

I have an Inspiron 1100 which does not work with Compiz because of the i845 graphics card. (I've checked this out fairly well and there are bug reports on it.) I'm currently running Gutsy and wish to test Intrepid from a live cd. However, I need to disable Compiz while booting a live cd session. Are there some boot options I can add to the live cd boot line (option F6) to supress or disable Compiz on a live boot?

i have had similar issues recently

im not sure about any command line options or whatever but i did find a way to disable compiz

after all of the initial boot, when it starts to load up the desktop itself, just hit ctrl-alt-backspace (this will send you back to the login screen)

at the login screen you can change the session to "GNOME failsafe" then just let it auto login to the livecd user

compiz is disabled with "GNOME failsafe" ,although you might run into some other issues im not sure

I cannot even get in to the Login screen. My HD light blinks like Ubuntu is loading, the screen goes black after the "orange worm" disappears, I hear the sound wave of start, and then everything hangs.
