Hello, I'm trying to install 8.02 I only have a USB mouse/keyboard and I cannot access any of the menus until the liveCD is booted. When I try to install it I can set the timezone then it stays on that screen for over 20 minutes and I can only move the mouse, is there any other options for installing. At this time I do not have access to a non usb keyboard..... -J

I think you mean 8.04. When You booted did you check cd for errors first? I find this is most often the problem. You could have a bad burn or a bad download. Either way check for errors.

Every time I've run across input errors (keyboard/mouse) it's been because of errors on the disk. I would take nakama's advice and check the disk for errors using the build in diagnostic.

Its not that I cannot use the keyboard or mouse, its a hardware limit (BIOS says keyboard error on bootup because it only has two usb ports and has the old pink and green keyboard and mouse analog connections) so I cannot use the keyboard/mouse until ubuntu loads the USB drivers because they bios doesn't understand how to. I checked the CD for errors as well as I've used this CD for 3 other boxes..... thanks for the reply!! Please let me know other suggestions. I thought of trying the alt CD but i figured no USB keyboard? -J

thats weird. Bios should not really care. if your keyboard does not work how do you even load live cd. or do you let all timers run to 0?

I only ask because if your keyboard works at all you could try to install via command line

timers run to zero...... idk it works on my other ones but not this box...
