Just reporting that I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 with no problem! The cleanest upgrade I ever had. If you are still considering it, here is a few information about my system, that was working pretty well before the upgrade.
Dell Latitude D630 nvidia graphics card broadcom wireless
- sound works well (with skype inclusive. had problem at first, but restarted twice and the problem was gone.)
- 3d acceleration works well (compiz, etc..)
- wireless ok (had to restart once, after enabling the non-public driver)
only problem: I never managed to make it work with a datashow/beamer. I will try again tomorrow morning, to see if the new nvidia driver does any good with this. did you have this problem as well with the 8.04 version? tell me how did you solve it, please!
