I installed inside of windows ubuntu, I had vista, and do a lot of computer work for my job, I had it dual boot, instill after a few days i got the grub error 15, i ran into before messing with linux dirto's i fixed them before with the super grub disc, anyways I used the disc to try to fix this error, this never fixed it and messed up my booting for windows, the "bootmrg missing" error, I ended up trying the vista recovery disc, this didnt work and once i opened my harddrive in a partitioning disk that the partition windows was on with all my files was "unknown file type" ect.. but could tell my other partition's formats.
now i reinstalled unbuntu on a partition, and i love it i always been wanting to get away from windows and havent had a down fall yet, but a few bugs like,
i couldnt boot for awhile because gnome said "cant lock /home/me/.ICEauthority"
i ended up fixing this by going into the live cd and changin permissions on the ICEauthority
ended up working and i even have all my drivers (wifi, video card, ect..) working.
now I think this can be a good thing having linux now, but does anyone have ideas how to recover my files on the unknown partition that was once my windows install?
i have most of my files backed up and put into my new os, but I will lose some important work.
other than this, im loving ubuntu
