[SOLVED] Whats the differences between ClamAV and ClamTk?

I was looking at the add/remove application and i found a ClamTk. I read both of the clamtk and clam av. but i i got somewhat confuse with both of them. is clamtk a slimmer version of ClamAV?

i was looking to install ClamAV on my dell mini 9.

please, don't tell me i dont need antivirus. There are a ton of Linux Security experts stating that we do need it.

i need it because i am be working with a lot of window users, transferring files. word docs. and most of these window years who don't have antivirus programs, but yet they're computers are slow infected with spyware and malware. and a lot of them download a .exe programs off p2ps that have viruses.

anyways, can someone tell me what are the differences are. and which one to install

clamtk is a graphical front-end for clamav

clamav by itself is command line only

generally both are used together

Practically you are correct. Technically Clamtk is a wrapper that wraps around clamAV and uses a GUI. Atleast according to my understanding.

Not same. The program which does the anti-virus work is clamav. One directs and controls it via typing on the command line.

clamtk allows one to control clamav via clicking and typing into a graphical interface, in essence clamtk does the typing for you. The program clamtk does to anti-virus protection whatsoever.
