because i still have firefox version 3.0.3. I thought it might be my no script or something that is blocking it.

btw, it says they have a linux version of firefox 3.0.4 on the offical website of mozilla firefox.

i was wondering what version does everyone else have for firefox?

#2

I'm running 3.0.4 so I know it is out. I got it during a system update. I am running flashblock and no script so they don't interfere with the download.

#3

yep. i'm also running 3.0.4 on ibex. got it from an update too.

#4

i updated my live update thing. i still don't have the firefox 3.0.4. I am using the dell mini 9.. hmmm

#5

check your repositories. The dell mini might be set up different.

#6

i did that too. I opened Software Sources > unselected all Ubuntu Software tab and unselected all the Updates tab.

I just have the third-party software tab all checked for the dell mini 9 updates.

still no go.

i even selected everything. nothing

#7

okay i got it. go to System/Administration/Software Sources. Then click on the *updates* tab. Make sure the 2nd checkbox *Recommended updates (intrepid-updates)* is ticked.

according to the Synaptic package manager, the firefox package comes from the intrepid-updates.

i am running the dell's version of ubuntu 8.04 on a dell mini 9 model

i did that. it still doesn't work.

i believe its the broken links that is giving me an incomplete update.

I'm using 3.0.4 on Hardy.

#10

yeah, i figured everyone has firefox-3.0.4

i think it might be Dell's custom version of Ubuntu Heron Hardy on a Dell mini 9, that isn't updating correctly or lack of finalizing the update.

Are you wanting to upgrade to 8.10 as well? If so, you'll have to go to software sources and then the "Updates" tab and change "Show new distribution releases" from "Long term support releases only" to "Normal Releases". Since 8.10 isn't LTS it won't automatically upgrade."

If 3.0.4 is included in intrepid-updates and you are using hardy-updates then maybe that's the issue. If you want to stay on 8.04 then you can DL 3.0.4 from the mozilla website... or maybe add intrepid-updates to your software sources (?).

i am using dell's custom version of Ubuntu 8.04.1

i even unchecked the third-party software, and checked everything on the "Ubuntu Software" and "Updates" tab. I had some problem broken link that says error can not download some links due to not being found. (this is a common thing with the Dell mini 9 users who are using the Dell's version of Ubuntu 8.04)

since it does download files like this, i think it does an incomplete update. i am not sure

thats why I have the third party software on, which is on by default on a factory restore from dell. (when i do this, i don't have the broken update links saying its not found.)

i still don't have firefox 3.0.4
