Hi,

My current desktop: cpu: Duron 1.2ghz ram: 640mb vid: GeForce4 MX 420 128MB 66MHz

lenovo s10 netbook: 1.6GHz N270 Intel Atom Processor 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz Intel GMA 950 Integrated Graphics

My desktop runs xubuntu fairly well. I can run firefox with 20 tabs, gimp, a text editor with tabs, a desktop wiki app, and a few other apps scattered around 6 virtual desktops. I get occasional slowdowns I think due to firefox... but on the whole, fairly snappy, especially compared to the old wintel xp boxes at work.

Will one of the new netbooks with the atom 1.6ghz feel faster, slower, about the same? Can someone with a new netbook chime in here? I don't know whether to hold what I've got or get a new netbook.

thanks,

takayuki
