This might be a stupid question, but I'd just like to make sure. I've install the UNR packages over 8.04 on an Aspire One and was wondering if I could now remove the Ubuntu-desktop to clear some space on my hardrive?

Removing Ubuntu-Desktop will only remove that package and no others.
It is a meta-package that when installed, installs all the packages related to it. Such as Gnome games and gnome panel etc.
You can remove Gnome or other packages seperately if you do not wish to have them installed.
