some dude made a deb file of the new songbird stable release,so I thought I would share with everyone,here 's the link

I have installed it on intrepid 64 and everything seems fine
Still doesn't have global media keyboard support. wtf.

Personally, I'll wait for getdeb.net to make theirs - sorry but they're a more trusable source.
Yeah, you should always be wary of downloading .debs from the web. It would be very easy for someone to put something malicious in a deb.
Saying that, Ubuntus main weakness is that the software in the respositories is normally not the latest version. Waiting 6 months to get the latest version of some apps sucks.

ubuntu is not for you then. try a rolling release distro, like arch.
