Welcome to the forums. I don't speak Swedish, but I understand what you're asking (I do speak Danish).

No, you do not need to compile your own kernel when you use Ubuntu.

Okey thanx for the answer, ehhm but i can do it if i want to?

cause i have some "problems" with ubuntu 8.10 x86_x64 i have a bit of lag on the animations and my sounds hangs up when i do a little to much at the same time and when i brows up and down in firefox where there is long pages with lots of text.

of is there anythings else i can do about that?

i have a amd athlon x2 3800+, 4 gb ram, nforce 630a, nvidia 8800gt 512mb

It is possible to compile your own kernel, if you really want to do that. However, I don't know if that would be the answer to your problems. Try other possible solutions first.

Lag on the animations: Which graphics driver are you using? Look at System / Administration / Hardware Drivers (may ofcourse have a different name if you're using the Swedish version). Make sure you are using the proper nVidia driver.

About your other problems (such as the sound), can you explain in more detail what exactly is wrong?

Hello.

i'll reinstalled ubuntu to day cause i wanted to put the system on another partition, and the nvidia driver seems to work better now, no lag :)

well, to the sound problem, when i'll scroll upp and down fast in my firefox browser in for example at this forum the sounds stop and when i stop scroll the sound comes back. understand ? =)
