Moderator PMing me with another account?

OVERDRANK has access to three accounts and PMed me for some reason from one account:

PM from:

canoemoose

Hello! Saw you were from good ol' Cambridge and thought I'd drop by. Where abouts??

The other accounts he/she uses are Garric & imoose. Check their profiles and you will see what i mean.

I mean why would i be PMed out of the blue by someone claiming to be from Cambridge and wanting to "meet up" and all of this so called users friends (in profile) have only been visited by overdrank.

Something is not right here?

This all stems from an infraction i received from overdrank last night.

Thanks in advance

Tom.

Please be patient, such a serious allegation requires the attention of an admin and some investigation(if necessary).

And as a small question, you do realise that overdrank is from the US, don't you?

I didn't think he was from Cambridge...

I cant see why he would do it. Its like he was cross examining me. Maybe to see if i am from Cambridge???

Its strange i know???

I just want to get to the bottom of it.

Overdrank does not have more than one account. He did not contact you and could/would not do so using any other account.

canoemoose is connecting to the forums from Britain. Whether the private message to you was legitimate or not, and I would tend to think it probably was, I'm sure the offer of friendship has been unofficially rescinded. You can rest easy.

Seriously, this comes off as paranoid to an extreme. The issue is something that can be ruled out easily, which I have done using the tools at my disposal on the back end. It would have been better for you to have made the request without all the emotional content and accusations, which don't help your case and only make you look bad.

What seems to (appears, looks like, may) be happening is that you are angry over an infraction and using an otherwise innocent incident to cause a ruckus, or that an innocent incident happened at a coincidentally bad moment and got horribly misinterpreted because of a jump to a conclusion.

Bottom line: all reasonable accusations of misconduct are investigated. This one has, and I find no basis whatsoever for the charge. Even the circumstantial "evidence" is extremely weak.

Obviously i can't have an opinion here! Also i very much doubt this has been investigated fully.

What is the point in these forums if a community member cant express doubts about the sincerity of a moderator (in the appropriate section). I thought ubuntu was for everyone?

@overdrank

Why did you visit the "users" profile and the users "friends" profile. yesterday (after the pm from canomoose was sent)? Out of the 100,000 users or so on the forums you chose to visit their profiles. Why would one of the "users" friends have posted only one post?

This is seriously not right Matthew. I know I'm right!

Oh, and whether you doubt it or not, the matter was investigated fully.

You expressed your doubts and were heard.

Staff also have "friends" on the forums. This does not in any way imply that the staff are the people with whom they have friend relationships. That is an absurd accusation and not worthy of further response.

What can i say? I cant force you all to do the right thing.

I don't think it appropriate for "forum admin" to flame any user who disagrees with them. I thought better of you Matthew, i was wrong.

Staff also have "friends" on the forums. This does not in any way imply that the staff are the people with whom they have friend relationships. That is an absurd accusation and not worthy of further response.

As said out of 100,000 or so users, he chose to visit the aforementioned users profile after the PM was sent. Its absurd that you don't see this as strange in the least.

Have nice lives and try to get away from the computer from time to time.

):P

Just for the record, i don't want to leave but i have no choice. After being treated in this manner, what other choice do i have!

And with that, I'll close the thread.

If you wish to discuss this further, Tomatz, you are welcome to attend a Forum Council meeting, after placing the issue on the agenda.

For the record I have also fully investigated this issue and find the accusations baseless. There is no evidence what so ever that would indicate that overdrank has done anything inappropriate.

#12

I have also done an independent investigation on the claims, and cannot find any evidence to support them.

I also confirm that it is common practice for the staff to take a look at profile pages of various members for various reasons.
