I run a Edubuntu server in our small school. Due a number of reasons I aim to switch from Hardy to Intrepid and in this case would like to do a clean install.
However, after installing, I would like to import the (manually added) users and groups from the old system (which will still be safe on the old disks). What is the best way to do this? Maybe not a good idea to just throw in /etc/passwd and /etc/groups? But maybe copy-paste some of them? What about /etc/shadow?
