The question says it all. Can we bookmark threads, including the closed ones? I don't want to maintain it on my own computer or another website. The closest I could see is thread subscription; but it does not allow me to bookmark closed threads. I want to do this to build my own knowledge base to which I would return from time to time.

You can bookmark it in your browser yes :)
Each thread has it's own individual ID (as does each post I believe). I have a couple of threads bookmarked in my browser :)

I just have subscribed to a closed thread. That appears to work just fine. Perhaps you tried to subscribe to an archived one (which I haven't tested)?
