Oh, and for what it's worth, Ubuntu has earned it's way to being my favorite distro of Linux.
Desktop and packaged apps - any distro based on debian(including ubuntu) Stability as in a 1 app kiosk - any distro based on redhat(including fedora) Booting from a usb stick - DSL Pen Testing - backtrack
If you had added a poll wouldn't the results be biased as this is an Ubuntu forum?

I'd say Ubuntu for all of its ease of use.
Slackware or SliTaz.
Arch is also good, and I like NetBSD and OpenSolaris (not Linux).
Overall, Ubuntu and FreeBSD (which is not Linux), for productivity. Currently though, Fedora is climbing back up my list, along with a few others like OpenSolaris.
ubuntu for a quick install on a new computer. it does work pretty easy most the time. debian for anything with lesser than 2 gigahertzh processor. open-solaris i use permanently as a office and internet computer system. the bsd types i like to explore but i have not yet found any favorite of them.
minix and free dos for really old computers that still is fun to play with and no one else wants. i want them. minix and freedos is actually pretty cool.
linux. it hass got to be debian based. if it is not then i stopped using it since i do not like rpm packages. it has also got to be pure debian based or live cd (which i do not care if is based on what ever) since there really is no point in installing a ubuntu based distro for the ease of use and learn another systems ways around it everytime when i use ubuntu anyway and like it. i do cheat on ubuntu if i can find something that looks more appealing but i always goes back to ubuntu and debian etch.

Ubuntu for it's ease of use and large community support.
Others that I like are openSUSE, PClinuxOS and Vector.
Arch Linux definitely takes the cake for me.

When I'm setting up a system for myself I prefer Arch.
When I set up a system for someone else I prefer Xubuntu or Fedora.
