I experience a mild inconvenience when I quit Blender: the interface remains up even though I have quit. I have to run the mouse across the desktop where the icons are (they alone show up through the Blender interface which remains in place). In this way I invoke another app which finally forces Blender to refresh the screen and quit. I made a new update to Ubuntu just in case that would help, but the problem remains.

I'm trying to mess around with the Video Sequence Editor. I put some files on the timeline, but I don't know how to actually see the footage. How do you arrange the screen layout to see a preview screen?

Thanks.

I'm not sure about what you need, and have not tried specifically what you ask, but you should be able to middle click on any of the borders (inside) and divide your view up however you wish.

To see what the output will look like make the main window a VSE (video sequence editor) too, and next to the menu you will see a popup with horizontal lines, and if you click on it one of the options will be 'image preview'... which is what you are looking for I think.

As to your quiting problem, I havn't experienced it, so i'm not sure what to say.
