Absolute newbie to Linux!

I have purchased the Edimax-7318usg Wireless USB with Ariel because my onboard broadcom bcm4312 is incompatible with Kismet.

The Edimax card worked straight out of the box and has connected to my home network without installing any drivers, I have full internet access.

This as I understand has the rt73 chipset.

I have been reading about drivers for the rt73 chipset and think I may have installed the modified ones which are designed for use with kismet (i think) but cannot be sure if I did it properly because I dont know how to check.

I have edited the Kismet.conf file by adding my username and trying many different subjested source values but am not sure where these values are found although they were subjested for my specific card.

my error in Kismet is that is says unknown source.

I appreciate this is a very broad 'question' and that nobody is going to have a quick fix...and that im probably well out of my depth for now.

If someone could just help me check I have the right drivers installed, that nothing needs 'blacklisting' and how to do this if so.

Thanks a lot all...and hope I dont do your heads in asking too many questions over the coming months!
