During install process I get past the hostname and download of 740 apps then after the reboot it begins install process. It hangs after short period of time. Several reboots may get 1 or 2 apps loaded but still hangs within 3 to 5 minutes. Let it go overnight and all day long and still hung at the same spot. Installing 1 of whatever and it gets to 5% on the progress bar and reports 0 time remaining.

I downloaded the Kubuntu 6.04 i38 DVD from (dapper-dvd-i386.iso) http://www.ubuntulinux.org/download burned with no problem. Tried to first install along with XP but had the same results. Hanging at the install process so I then tried formatting the whole disc to no avail. Looking for any help. Looked and didn't see anyone with similar issues in the forums.

Maybe it's a bum CD. Did you verify the integrity of the download before burning it? Did you burn it at a slow speed?

Downloaded the ubuntu-5.10-install-i386 file burned and install went fine. Must have been the DVD burn was bad first time.

Thanks
