IP Over Firewire, Ubuntu + XP

Ok, so here is my problem: I have large (15GB+) files to move from one computer to another. The computers are siting next to each other so a firewire cable can perfectly be linked between the two. I would transfer the files over the network, although i don't have the time to do this over and over again because the transfer of the files will get updated often. I have tried to set up an IP over Firewire, but have no clue what i am doing, so it didn't go well.

If anyone could explain how i could transfer a file from a Ubuntu computer to an XP Computer through firewire, that would be a GREAT (!!!) help.

I was talking to someone a school who had used Samba to send files over his network between computers running Windows and Ubuntu

Yea, My problem is not sending the files, its connecting the Computers together with firewire and letting them "talk to each other."

Odd, but it looks like it can be done as long as you are not using Vista. See here

Ok... I knew this already, and im also no XP. I will try to re-explain my problem again:

How can i set up ubuntu to use ip over 1394? (I am letting XP use 192.168.3.1 and i would like to force ubuntu to use 192.168.3.2). ALSO:: How can i send files between the 2 over this "private" firewire network?
