Hi all!
so I have a laptop running windows 2000 with a serial port and a desktop computer running ubuntu 8.10 that has a serial port and a connection to the internet, how would I setup a serial network on the between the two? please reply even if you only know how to do the ubuntu side of the network!:p
You might be able to get some version of "slip" to work, however, for any kind of internet access, you really should look into connecting via ethernet (like a router/switch on the internet connection and the pc's plug into the switch on the router). Actually, if you want to be technical, ethernet IS serial ):P

well the laptop doesn't have Ethernet and I don't want to buy a card or usb thing. I know it has been done before on windows using a program called dcc (i can't remember what it stands for). and yes I know ethernet is serial.
