Just downloaded Ubuntu 8.10 today and my max res is 800x600 and I need it to be at 1440x900. If anyone has any idea why this is like this please help.

A nvidea card?
yup I have an xfx 630i mobo with on board 7150 graphics. Its getting really frustrating because my windows and everything are hugeeee. If this has to do with my nvidia drivers I have installed 177 and 173 and it made things worse.
In GNOME run

I have an Nvidia 7150, and I have downloaded driver 177. I am very new to this program and have no clue what Gnome is or KDE if you can post a step by step process that would be awesome. thanks
Sorry for my new name... Im Speed Demon with new name :P Anyhow, do you have 2 bars on screen or not? K logo on a menu or a Applications | Places | System? The K is kde and the 3 is gnome. Hard 2 explain. Downloaded through Hardware manager or nvidia.com? I strongly dis-reccomend nvidia.com when we have nVidia.
Try this -> System / Administration / Hardware Drivers from that menu. Then select nVidia, which will install then reboot.

Ya I don't get that K or 3 thing but that process at the bottom was what I did first and that's what brought me to a "input not supported" signal after rebooting the 177 driver.
