So how is the netbook remix supposed to make Ubuntu any different? I installed it and the only difference I saw was my wifi icon was moved from the top to the bottom. I did what the wiki saaid to install the remix, but nothing. Does anyone know of a tutorial on how to install it? I'm running 8.10 on an Acer Aspire with 160g hd and 1g of ram. Thanks in advance.

You are missing the optional part. Go back to the install page (the one in the link) and near the bottom you will see _NETBOOK REMIX (Optional):_ You need to go through these steps to have the new desktop.
