hi,

i am installing the current wine release using synaptic as i write this onto an ibm 42 thinkpad with a winmodem run by ubuntu 8.10.

i have installed the hsf* driver to cause the winmodem to work from linuxant and it seems to work okay with kppp.

will wine be able operate the winmodem too?

perhaps this is off topic or should be in a new thread but in general what kind of performance can i expect on my t42 40gb 1.7mhz .5gb ram compared to what someone who is used to m**s* product on a t42 would expect?

i don't do windows.):P

thank you.

as for that far as i understood wine it is trying to link every windows command to linux. so if it runs on linux u might have a great chance it runs in wine too (but not vice-versa)

hope that is an answer

WINE will use whatever internet connection that is active on your system.

Although if you're thinking of trying to use some program under WINE to try and dial out on such a modem you're likely out of luck.
