I went to system->administration->Login screen set up. I clicked the tab that says accessability.

In there. i checked all 5 options. And set my custom audio files names.wav

I clicked test sound - each plays back ok.

The problem is, after i log off, and log back in, the sounds never take effect. Am i missing something here?

I go back to system->administration->Login screen set up

all settings are still there.

I can set the startup sound ok from: system ->preferences->sounds [sound events]

But i dont see the option for sound when screen is ready. (you know how it used to play the 3 conga beat waiting for your user name? thats not there... it dont happen anymore.

im confused. So im wondering where do these settings get written to? some config file that i can check for proper entries?

any pointers as to how to get this done right?
