I have downloaded the iso image of ubuntu 8.10 onto a USB. Now, I'm stuck on how I go about the install.

Someone please help, I'm really sick of Windows!

do you want to install from the usb stick or from a cd?

If you want to install from the usb stick, try unetbootin. If you want to install from a cd, you need to burn the iso image onto a cd.
