Hello,

Whenever I visit a webpage with a movie embedded in it, totem gives me the following error:

Totem could not play fd://0.

There is no plugin to handle this movie.

And it claims that no plugin was found. After that, FireFox dies on me. Fox example, try this website: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/x3/

I have all the plugins installed. To be more specific, I have installed all codecs on http://help.ubuntu.com/starterguide/C/ch03.html#codecs plus the w32codecs from PLF (http://wiki.ubuntu-fr.org/doc/plf)). It doesn't matter what kind of movie it is, the same error always pops up. Only flash movies work well.

Thanks for your help!

Try using MPlayer instead of Totem: http://www.ubuntuguide.org/#mplayer

you should install totem xine with the synaptic tool

then the movies should play fine

or use mplayer (=better in my opinion)
