I just performed updates through the update manager. About halfway through the updates the audio started making a constant beeping. I have restarted the computer twice and it is continuing and the only way I can stop it is by muting the system, thus removing audio completely or by removing the audio cable from the computer to the tv, again ending all audio. I have been running the system for over a year and done all upgrades with no problems, till now.

I need help finding the logs so that I can find the problem. Or at least what upgrades happened.

I am thinking in my limited capacity that ASLA upgraded and if I could just go back to what I had before I could have the audio working fine.

Also, the audio is beeping constantly regardless if mythtv is running or not and it continues to do it till the computer actually turns off completely.

Any help would be great because till I fix this there is no way to watch tv. Thanks

a little more info..

I can still run audio - like mp3s and videos and mythtv and hear the audio under the beeping.

Sorry, not sure about the problem, but your Myth logs should be in /var/log/mythtv, the others (syslog etc) in /var/log.

I have stopped the beeping.

I don't know exactly what I did but I thought that it might be related to the video drivers because others had mentioned metalic sounds after upgrading video drivers.

I installed Envy and installed the the 173 drivers.. however now I am always in low graphics mode. And because of this mythtv frontend is not showing up after scaling images.

Need to keep trying to adjust the drivers. Again any help would be great.
