Correcly Instaling Itunes

Ime shure there has to be a good guide on all the steps..

I want to install it on 64 bit ubuntu 8.1

Dont rule out getting the apple version to work on linux, the windows version sucks so bad that i refuse to ever use it. If you are just looking to connect your ipod to linux you might want to try the plugins available in some of the media players from the repositories.

I just came from itunes (8 years on windows) and just changed my primary os to ubuntu. And i would REALLY like to have itunes.. Is there just some workaround.

You can run iTunes under WINE. The latest version (8.0) has bronze and silver ratings on winehq:

I know it can.. i just keep scruing up while trying to do so. Is there any guides that will show me how to? i always seem to mess up

Have you tried using Banshee, Rhythmbox, or Songbird to connect your iPod? iTunes isn't that great of a music player to begin with.

Last I tried Banshee, it worked really well with my first gen Nano, but not at all with my 3G Nano, so I still had to use Windows to do anything with my 3G. That was 6 months ago though, and I haven't tried it since. I'll be testing it this weekend though.

I do know that there are issues with DRM'd iTunes tracks, but those can be cleaned. DRM-free tracks from Amazon or other sources should present less of a challenge.

I'll add Amarok to that list. It has a great podcast management system.

Us with iPhones and iPod Touches have it tough, though. You can supposedly install iTunes into a VirtualBox XP environment (using the non-free version) and actually sync in there. The open one doesn't have full usb support yet, or so I hear. Likely it works in vmware, too.

Yes, we can sync via WLAN, but that only works if you have an older pre-2.0 firmware. Not to mention it being slow as heck.
