Hey,
I'm having a problem with Ubuntu 8.10. I turned the computer on one morning and it wouldn't let me log in. I was prompted with this weird "Activation" window.
What does this mean? Do I need to reformat?

Some parts of the photo are out of focus, but it's certainly pretty realistic if you're not paying enough attention. Nice job, and thanks for giving me a laugh!

As a sysadmin who's seen plenty of ext3 boot-fsck-failure blowups, I strongly urge you to turn that one off -- it's REALLY REALLY MEAN :)

Linux Genuine Advantage is intended as a joke but it does illustrate how easy it is to create a real malware for Ubuntu or other GNU / Linux distributions and the perfect way to trick many a GNU / Linux user to install it by *bashing Microsoft*
Make Steve Balmer or Bill Gates look really stupid and you may get a some GNU / Linux users to enter that sudo password so one can install a rootkit.

love it. for a second i though that some company was trying to make money off the sale of ubuntu. Which i suppose is not illegal except the use of the name.

I hope you thoroughly read the 42 page EULA beforehand ... I seem to recall one section stating the "owning of your soul" upon agreeing to it.
I may be wrong though ... My memory is terrible these days :(
