I have a flash drive that I'm using on my XP boot (my machine is dual-boot). Is it safe to use it also in Ubuntu or are there formatting issues?

I've just started using Ubuntu, so can't speak in details, but as for reading, I had no problem with a flach drive. But I did not attempt to write anything.

Hi! You can use it with Ubuntu as well. Has it got the NTFS you can just read it. With fat32 you can read and write. So if you want a drive which you can use for both OS Chose fat32. Jørn

Flashdrives are usually formatted with FAT32, which can be written by Linux with no problems - if so, then there is nothing to be afraid of. At least, I have never had any quarrels with my USB flashdrive :)
