Hi... Ive asked this question before under a totally different question with a different title in the beginners forum, but I think its more suitable in here...
So lets get you guys up to speed.
I running Linux Ubuntu 5.10 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4220 XCDT.
My problem is as stated in the title that i'm not able to use the full size of my screen. It has a black border all around it approc. an inch thick.
What ive done so far:
Ive tried altering the vertRefresh and horizSync numbers but i cant get it to work correctly. I read somewhere that adding a "1" to the last number in both vert. and Horiz. would fix my problem, but ive tried that and it hasn't.
Ive also tried to run
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
That kind'a work, but not interally. The screen was totally filled out and in 1024x768, but it was as if it couldnt update the screen fast enough, when attempting to do anything like pulling a window to a new position, it came up with these pink vertical lines. Pressing F5 and updating the window fixed it until you try to move or scroll again.
Ive tried to add an entirely new xorg.conf found here but that didnt work either, got an error screen and had to reinstall. might be because it was for kubuntu and not Ubuntu.
Thats where I am right now... still got the borders around around the screen.
Finally ive added my xorg.conf file below....
Hope to here from you.
