dislike Ubuntu

i dont have internet connection on my new 64bit computer, and there are barely any 64bit versions of deb files, it takes too long to build software and it takes alot of work to get everything working, i actually perfer windows, i dont use the internet so i cant get any viruses, i only use blender, MSpaint for editing, python, celestia, stellarium, flightgear, VB, C++, The Gimp, open office and audacity, i can pretty much say im runnig linux because i use only linux software, i also have Ubuntu confined in a virtual box so i dont loose my geekyness.

im not satasfied, period.

i would like to know how to make themes in windows and costomize toolbars, if its possible...

so you dislike ubuntu because you don't have internet connection but you don't use it anyway (if it would work):p

o.O, try waiting it out. Ubuntu took a good 3 hours to find my wireless, but then all was well.

I agree that, Linux distros like Ubuntu requires continuous support from the users and experts around the world.

But I can confirm that I got very good support immediately as soon as I ask for help. This forum is the best example.

I have been using Ubuntu with KDE desk top continuously for the last 7 months. Ubuntu got completely stuck up with twice. Once, recently with the upgrade. This forum helped me to come out of that. Secondly, internet connectivity itself.

The main reasons I liked Ubuntu is:

1. It is completely free. You don't need to pay anything for any software

1. It is continuously getting improved.

I am not sure what your connection problem is and you dont say.

Here is my experience. I recently loaded 8.04 on 2 laptops, 1 Toshiba and 1 Everex. From the get go whe wired connections worked, The USB WIFI adapters that I use (Netgear WG 111*) worked, The WIFI cards I use (DLink DWL G650) worked, and in 10 minutes I had dialup working on both of them. One with a serial modem the other with a USB modem which also just worked. And That is more dialup connections than I have achieved in years.

Even the internal broadcom on the everex worked after install.

If you dont use the internet how do you know your connection does not work? Is it turned on? This is not just being an ***. Although I am quite accomplished in that area. Many of todays laptops have the capability of turning off the wireless connection. In my experience I have found that many people are not aware of this feature.

I am not sure what your connection problem is and you dont say.

I think that the OP doesn't have an internet service provider.

If you get one I expect people will be more than happy to assist you if you experience any problems getting set up.

While this may be more true than not these days I did say that I had just set up Dial up connections on two laptops in about 10 min. Since my first foray into Linux ( Red Hat 8), that is a 200% improvement. The only other time I have been able to get dial up to work was in RH8.

So people are ready to help we just need a bit more information.

As for posting a windoz question here and not on a windoz board. They are probably getting more information here.

well, i have actually changed my mind, i just recently got a new computer and 64x vista was unable to run my old myst games, so i installed ubuntu with wine, and now everything works fine!!!

im keeping it!
