the easyest and cheapest webcam for chat and meeting

Hi everyone

I am up to set up webcam that works for linux/ubuntu that can help me organiza online meetings with my family members. I ask your help with your experience as i am a newbee in webcams and setting them up. I also ask your experience to be able choose between a great variety of webcams. It is really important as I live in Ecuador and so I guess that the mayority of the cams that you guys may suggest might not be found here.

So if you have any good idea about a webcam that works out of the box and it is cheap than please write

I have a Ranger 300 - does not work at all Logitech Quickcam - I had to compile a module. Logitech do several versions with different chipsets and are hard to identify from the box.

What software are you planning to use, Gaim doesn't do video yet.

I was thinking to follow a howto set up amsn. Of course if i was able to get a camera working.
