is there a trick to posting a new thread in the help forums?

i can navigate everywhere here, but i need to ask a question in the general help forum, i tried there and the newbie forum too, but i got afew internal server errors, then i disabled my http proxy and this time i got a "400 Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand."

i'll keep this short because i'm not sure it will post!

i just can't post a new thread in the help forums, i've tried about 6 times so far and in between each try had no other problems in the forum! is there some kind of check made when you post a new thread in those subforums or something???

Are you perhaps trying to post in the archived Gen Help/Absolute Beginners sections?

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to create a new thread in the help forums.

i just tried to edit the first post and got another bad request, this is what i tried to add -

EDIT i tried again and got another 400 Bad Request. i can save the post and post in another OS or computer i suppose.

are all my new threads showing up there eventhough i keep getting errors? the title is "need help upgrading from feisty" - http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=331

Also, are you sure you're not trying to create a new thread in the Archive? it's trying to load the new thread now (i could click on reply in this thread and load the page while it's trying to post the new thread, it just got another 400! from the link above.

Yep, right place.

We have been having server issues, but nothing else like this, so it may be client-side as well. If you can try another computer, that would at least help narrow down the source of the problem.

thanks for the help. my suse 10.2 isn't supported any more so i think i'm going to try and get ubuntu up-to-date and use that.

i'll try re-posting about it in the next few days when i'm in ubuntu again. i can't remember exactly how i setup ubuntu's browser but it could be something i've done rather than the ubuntu server.
