I had a nightmare today that I had gotten a virus on my Windows XP computer. New tabs and windows of Firefox kept opening, and new icons kept appearing on the desktop background, and my desktop wallpaper and Firefox homepage kept changing, and pop ups kept popping up...

I've seen enough virus infected Windows computers that I know what it's like...

But yeah, I need to stop using Windows. It's ruining my health. I'm so worried about viruses I dream about them. :(

Ok. Spend a few hundred and buy Vista!.

#3

...or a few thousand and get a Mac.

ITT: People who talk about doing something without doing it.

Get Ubuntu and feel better about yourself.

Or get BSD and feel REALLY better about yourself :)

#5

Or use a hammer. No PC, no viruses :D

#6

just start deleting important system files until you bork the windows install, it will take a while but it will work. Then install ubuntu.

Dont happen to lie in Nottingham do ya because i had a customer come in with that exact same problem lol on a more serious note yes go Ubuntu, or Mandriva, or Debian, or Fedora, or ArchLinux, or PCLinuxOS, or Mint Linux, oh hell why not throw BSD in there as well because the only thing it will cost you is a bit of time and lot less worrying (and whatever the cost of cd's are). Its well worth it.

You may want to spend some time away from the computer.. :|

What a very strange dream. Not even my nerdiest dreams are like that.

But about switching OSes. You should take all your date onto a movable hdd, then after intsalling new OS put all your data there. You will always feel home with your personal data... without them there is no reason staying with the new OS.

yeah i mean if you don't have a need for intense gaming... ubuntu has it all. or just dual boot. or get somebody to send you that virus so you realize how awesome linux is.

Or you could have your finger nails pulled out with pliers for free.

It costs nothing and is a far more pleasurable and beneficial pursuit.

I do use Ubuntu on my other computer, just not this one.

I play PC games, so XP on this one. Don't want to accidentally mess it up with Ubuntu.
