hi, i was trying to use camtasia studio, and well, it doesn't work with wine, and i was wondering if there was another screen recorder that could capture HD movies. I know camtasia can capture them, but it does not work. I am using camtasia 6 and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, 3v4n

Oh yeah. And if you are having ATI card like me, then you can't use ANY tool to decetly record your desktop. Something in fglrx works VERY bad with Xorg from the very beginning. RecordMyDesktop is very slow with it, and my past favorite - what was it's name? Anyway, that one crashes. I won't be surprised if ATI turns out to be having a secret arrangement to produce bad drivers for Linux. Back with xgl, I could record FULL SIZE desktop with Compiz, watch video at the same time, and it took only HALF of my processing power! And they say fglrx is supposed to be faster. Linux's problem with sound and video is probably now #1 killer why people are not switching.

Have you tried recordmydesktop ? it is in the repository and you can download with Synaptic Package Manager. I have only played with it, but it seemed to do a decent enough job. (I too have an nvidia card)

Anyone have a suggestion on the posters topic ... a recording software that will record desktop in HD? I'm wondering the same thing as well. Thanks

Edit: Also, I just relized this was in the Wine section, which it probably shouldn't be with my question. Anyway, I'm looking for a program that will run native to the OS not with WINE

Ok i'm here to save the day. I have over 1000 subs on youtube.com/3mb0 and 2/3 HD videos, and guess what, u can record in the S***iest definition and still make HD settings in youtube. It is simpley the resolution you set the video into. What video editing software are you using?

When i use to use Vista i made those 2-3 videos with Sony Vegas, so i just search "how to get HD settings Sony Vegas" in youtube, and i got my answer.

Since i have fully whiped Vista from my machine and am running Ubuntu 8.10 and loving the change xD. (it's been 7 days without vista, a little bit of regret, but not too much, just feels like im missing a hole).

Haven't tried makeing or uploading any new videos since switching, but i wish you good luck.
