[SOLVED] laptop keyboard piano

I was wondering if there was a way to turn the keys on my keyboard into piano keys. My son loves banging on my keyboard and I thought it would be nice if when he pressed the keys different keys played different notes.(he also loves banging on my actual piano which is what i am trying to avoid)

I have tried rosegarden and couldnt really figure it out, any ideas....

You can use a virtual keyboard like vkeybd to turn keypresses into MIDI events. To make sounds, you need to hook it up to something like qsynth or zynaddsubfx

could you please describe to me how to connect the sound with qsynth or maybe point me to a tutorial

Thanks for the help I found more info on ZynAddSubFX here .http://zynaddsubfx.sourceforge.net/index.html#t08, and it is working fine now...my son loves it
