Napoleon complexes are fun!

So I come out and state that I may be wrong and deserve what I got.

Some random clown who is neither the person who started the thread in question, nor is he/she the mod who dealt with it chimes in out of nowhere and flagrantly insults me while managing to completely avoid addressing any of the points I brought up (such as Cafe being light-hearted and mild profanity being allowed, as outlined in the CoC).

For having the audacity to question this person and their opinions, I end up with a two-week ban and another small pile of insults. Meanwhile - surprise, surprise! - random members of The Peanut Gallery feel a need to chime in with their unsolicited opinions as if their two cents were needed.

Now I'm getting floods of emails, private messages threatening permanent bans, and reply after reply to a thread I can't even sign in and view because I've been banned for two weeks over something that was only worth a warning (not even an infraction!) in the first place.

Just like the last time a mod came at me heavy-handed and threw five points at me out of nowhere, I thought maybe this was a misunderstanding or maybe someone had a bad day and an itchy trigger-finger - which definitely seems to be the case since a member that has spent the better part of two years here without a problem is slapped with insults, threats, and sanctions for something that, in the beginning, garnered a simple warning (despite a rule in the CoC to the contrary).

You're the ones with the trigger-fingers, and I'm the one with the gun to my head. Since these forums are an indispensable tool to go along with the OS I currently use, I guess I have to do as I'm told. If you guys are all about rules, though, you'll slap jdong with an infraction of his own for outright insulting me before anything even started. Or are the rules just for us peons?

So, whatever. You want to ban me? Ban me. If you guys set aside all your righteous indignation and faux sophistication for just a minute, you'll see that this whole episode is as much an indictment of you and the rules you subjectively apply as it is me.

If membership on the forums is that important to you, maybe you should have considered that before flying off the handle like you did in your most recent posts.

It was not the staff that blew this situation out of proportion; it was you. Your choice to aggressively escalate what was a mere warning about a joke that was marginally inappropriate into a situation that is jeopardizing your membership at the forums.

And once again, you have taken the liberty to violate yet another forum policy in order to rant at the staff further. Now if I were to ban both of your accounts, would that really be worth it? Over a one line joking expression in the Cafe that was removed by a moderator with just a warning?

I placed the posting restriction on your account to (1) Try to get across that verbally attacking the staff is not going to help your cause whether you are right or wrong, and (2) Give you some time to cool off and revisit this in a level-headed manner.

Everything you are doing right now tells me to disable this account, your original account, and deny further registrations from your IP range. However, you know what, I'm willing to forget this whole thing ever happened if you are willing to cooperate too. Take some time off from the forums, let your emotions stabilize, and come back to the forum community with a lesson or two learned.

If you instead want to cause any more disruptions here, I will have no regrets making sure that you do not return. Do we have a deal?
